Company History

Under the auspices of Mr. Hsu, Yuo-Hsiang and others, Asia Cement Corporation was approved for registration and incorporation in March 1957. Major events of the latest five years at Asia Cement Corp, as follows:

Mar.2007 The Hualien Plant was awarded for the excellent performance in the project of “promoting green communities” by Environmental Protection Administration, Executive Yuan. R.O.C.
Sept.2006 The No. 1 kiln of Sichuan Yadong Cement Co., Ltd began operation.
Mar.2006

The waste heat recycling generators of No.1 and No.2 kilns of Jiangxi Yadong Cement Co. began operation. 

Dec.2005 The Company was awarded “Excellent Company for Hiring Aborigines ” by government.
Nov.2005 The Hualien Plant was awarded “2005 Industrial Excellence” by Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs.
Nov.2005 The Hualien Plant was awarded “Excellent Working Environment for Smoking Prevention” by the Bureau of Health Promotion, Department of Health.
Oct.2005 The Hualien Plant was awarded “Excellent Company for Adopting National Standards” by the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection, M.O.E.A.
Mar.2004 The Hualien Plant has passed OHSAS 18001:1999 Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series, approved by the Bureau of Standards-Metrology and Inspection.
Oct.2003 Termination of operation of the No.4 Kiln of Hsinchu Plant.
Sept.2003 The Hualien Plant has been recognized by the Council of Labor Affairs as a voluntary organization on performing health and safety protection. (Valid from 2003 to 2004)
Apr.2003 ACC filed an administrative litigation against the Ministry of Economic Affairs for not allowing to approve the application of extention of mining right of Hsinchu Plants  Yushan Quarry.
Apr.2002 The Hsinchu Plant has passed ISO-9001: 2000 quality management system certification.

The Hualien Plant has passed ISO-9001:2000 quality management system certification.

Nov.2000

The Hsinchu Plant's #5 Klin has set a new record of continuous operation for 407 days.

The quality control department laboratory of the Hualien Plant has been recognized by he Council of Chinese National Laboratory Accreditation as an accredited laboratory since April 1997. At present the laboratory has been registered for forty specific tests, which test items cover Portland cement (CNS/ASTM), Blast-Furnace slag and siliceous materials. This professional laboratory owns the most complete registration items of Portland cement testingg field in the nation.  

Dec. 1999 The Hualien Plant's Mt. Hsincheng Mine was cited by the Council of Labor Affairs as an outstanding business entity in labor safety and hygiene.
Sept. 1999 The Hsinchu Plant was cited by the Ministry of Economic Affairs as an outstanding firm in energy conservation.
Jun. 1999 The Hualien Plant was awarded by the council of Labor Affairs a decoration in recognition of its proven track proven track record in employee welfare and training.
May 1999  The Hualien Plant was awarded  by the Council of Labor Affairs a decoration in recognition of its proven track record in sound labor management relations.
Dec. 1998 The Hsinchu Plant's mine secured a permit to collect and process gravel and operate a storage site.
Dec. 1998 The Hsinchu Plant secured a permit to operate its coal storage site at Taichung Harbor.
Nov. 1998 The Hualien Plant's Mt. Hsincheng Mine was cited by the Council of Labor Affairs as an outstanding business entity in labor safety and hygiene.
Nov. 1998 The Hualien plant was cited by the Environmental Protection Administration as an outstanding firm in pollution control. The ERA also awarded the plant with an extraordinary decoration as it had won such honors for three years in a row . 
Oct. 1998 The Hualien Plant was awarded by the Council of Labor Affairs a decoration effective for three years in recognition of its proven track record in occupational safety and hygiene.
Apr. 1998 The Hsinchu Plant completed an 80,000-MT coal storage site at Taichung Harbor. The closed
structure was designed to be pollution-free throughout the storage, transportion and loading
/unloading process.    
Dec. 1997 The five ready-mixed concrete plants in Tucheng, Shulin, Linkou, Hsichih and Taichung have been awarded the highest standard of ISO-9002 certificate from the ROC government.
Dec. 1997 The Hsinchu Plant completed five sets of facilities that automatically monitor its waste disposal. These were connected to the local environmental protection authority.
Dec. 1997 The Hualien Plant was cited by the Environmental Protection Administration as on outstanding firm in pollution control.
Nov. 1997 The Hsinchu Plant completed revamping its No.6 and No.7 cement mills, with new machinery installed. The project was devised to enhance capacity, cut back on power consumption, and upgrade cement quality.
Nov. 1997 The Hualien Plant was cited by the Ministry of Economic Affairs as an outstanding firm in operation and maintaining pollution control equipment and ranked among the nation’s most commendable manufacturing facilities in industrial waste reduction.
Sept. 1997 The Hsinchu Plant completed a 40,000 MT closed clinker silo, making an immense contribution to minimizing air pollution.
Jun. 1997 The Hsinchu Plant secured an operating permit for cement production.
Jun. 1997 The Hualien Plant was cited by the council of Labor Affairs as an outstanding firm in upholding employee welfare.
Mar. 1997 The Hualien Plant was cited by the Environmental Protection Administration as an outstanding firm in pollution control.
Apr. 1997 The Hualien plant was acknowledged as conforming to the ROC national lab certification system.
Nov. 1996 The Hualien Plant was among the first batch of local companies to be granted ISO-14001 certificates by the Bureau of commodity Inspection & Quarantine, Ministry of Economic Affairs.
Oct. 1996 The Hualien Plant was cited by the Environmental Protection Administration as one of the nation’s 10 most outstanding manufacturing facilities in terms of pollution control. The Hsinchu Plant was also cited as a commendable facility in the same area.
Nov. 1995 The Hualien Plant was cited by the Ministry of Economic Affairs as an outstanding firm in terms of automatjion.
June. 1995 The Hualien Plant was cited by the Ministry of Economic Affairs as an outstanding firm in terms of energy conservation.
May. 1995 Both the Hsinchu Plant and Hualien Plant have been awarded the highest standard of ISO-9002 certificate from the ROC government.
Apr. 1995 Modification of No.2 secondary-burning pre-calcining suspension preheater kiln of the Hualien plant into a new pre-calcining suspension preheater kiln.
Oct. 1994 Completion and full operation of the No.4 cement mill at the Hualien Plant with a production capacity of 208MT/Hr.
Sept. 1994 Completion and full operation of diesel engine generator at the Hualien Plant with a generation capacity of 9,600 kw.
Jan. 1993 Completion and full operation of the Taichung Ready-Mixed Concrete Plant, posting an hourly output of 180 cubic meters of ready-mixed concrete.
Jul. 1992 Addition of another waste-heat recovery power plant made by NKK Co. of Japan to the Hualine Plant’s No.3 kiln, boasting a maximum generation capacity of 11,800 kw.
May. 1992 Completion and full operation of a pre-calcining preheter pyrorapid short rotary kiln at the Hualien Plant, turning out 1.6 million MT of clinker per year. It was also joined by a 500MT/Hr ball mill plus roller press raw meal grinding system. Both are the domestic cement industry’s most advanced production outfits.
Sept. 1991 Installation and full operation of a waste-heat recovery power plant made by Mitsubishi Co. of Japan at the Hsinchu Plant’s No.5 kiln and the No.4 kiln’s air quenching cooler, boasting a maximum generation capacity of 7,560 kw.
Mar. 1991 Installation and full operation of the ROC’s second waste-heat recovery power plant at the Hualien Plant’s No.1 kiln, boasting a maximum generation capacity of 7,300 kw. It has run smoothly so far.
Jun. 1990 Modification of the suspension preheater kiln at the No.4 kiln of the Hsinchu Plant into a pre-calcining suspension preheater kiln, as well as installation of an electro-static precipitator. Both have performed excellently.
Dec. 1989 Completion of the Hualien Plant’s second 300-meter-deep shaft and related transporting and crushing equipment, providing 2,000 MT of limestone per hour.
Apr. 1989 Transference of the Singapore Plant’s 70 MT/Hr cement mill to the Hualien Plant. Wualien Plant. With the addition of a clinker-grinding roller press, its capacity rose to 115 MT/Hr.
Apr. 1989 Completion of the research & development building at the Hualien Plant.
Aug. 1988 Installation of the ROC’s first clinker-grinding roller press made by the Germany-based KHD Co. at the Hualien plan’s No.2 cement mill, creating a 35 percent increase in production capacity. To this point, it has run smoothly.
Mar. 1988 Installation and full operation of a electro-static precipitator at the No.4 kiln’s air quenching cooler of the Hsinchu Plant.
Apr. 1988 Completion of bulk cement storage/transport and automatic loading facilities at Wharf #18, Hualien Harbor.
Dec. 1987 Modification of the first suspension preheater kiln at the Hualien Plant into a pre-calcining suspension preheater kiln, boosting the plant’s production capacity by 35 percent, as well as installation of a electro-static precipitator made by ELEX Co. of Switzerland.
May. 1987 Installation of a most recently developed roller press made by the Germany-based HKD Co. at the No.5 raw mill of the Hsinchu Plant. Its performance proved satisfactory.
Jun. 1986 Completion and full operation of the Hsichih Ready-Mixed Concrete Plant, posting an hourly output of 120 cubic meters. Thanks to the installation of additional equipment and renovation later, the plant now produces 330 cubic meters of ready-mixed concrete per hour.
May. 1986 Installation of the ROC’s first waste-heat recovery power plant at the Hualien Plant’s NO.2 kiln, boasting a maximum generation capacity of 6,000 kw. Its waste-heat boiler and turbine generation equipment, supplied by NKK Co. of Japan, proved highly efficient and contributed a 10 percent increase to the No.2 kiln’s production capacity. This had led to a 100 percent return on investment whithin three years.
Jan.   1986 Completion of a bulk cement storage/transport station at Wharf #14, Kaohsiung Harbor.
Sept. 1985 Installation and full operation of a new-model pre-calcining suspension preheater kiln along with grinding facilities at the Hsinchu Plant, producing one million MT of cement a year.
Sept. 1982 Installation of centralized coal mill(ball-mill type) at the Hualien Plant, following the lead of the Hsinchu Plant. The plant’s various kilns also shifted to coal from oil as their fuel. The coal mill is capable of production 38 MT of pulverized coal per hour.
Aug. 1981 Installation of the ROC’s first centralized coal mill (ball-mill type) at the Hsinchu Plant in response to a worsening oil crisis. The plant’s various kilns shifted to coal mill is capable of producing 38 MT of pulverized coal per hour.
Aug. 1980 “ASIS CEMENT No.1” Taiwan’s first fully-closed, self-unloading bulk cement carrier, set out on her maiden voyage.
Jul. 1980 Completion of a cement terminal and automatic loading facilities at Wharf #10, Hualien Harbor.
Jun. 1980 Completion and full operation of the Linkou Ready-Mixed Concrete Plant, posting an hourly output of 90 cubic meters. Thanks to additional equipment installed later, it now produces 270 cubic meters of ready-mixed concrete per hour.
Jun. 1980 Completion of a bulk cement storage/transport station at Wharf #12B, Keelung Harbor.
Mar. 1980 Installation and full operation of a secondary-burning pre-calcining suspension preheater kiln and the ROC’s first gearless cement mill at the Husline Plant, turning over one million MT of cement a year.
May. 1979 Completion of a 200-meter-deep shaft and related transporting and crushing equipment at the Hualien Plant, the first such facilities for the local cement industry, providing 1,200 MT of limestone per hour.
Jul. 1977 Completion and full operation of the Shulin Ready-Mixed Concrete Plant, posting an hourly output of 135 cubic meters of ready-mixed concrete.
Feb. 1976 Completion of a clinker silo and loading facilities at Wharf #10, Hualien Harbor.
Aug. 1975 Installation and full operation of a suspension preheater kiln along with grinding facilities at the Hualien Plant, producing 800,000MT of cement a year
Sept. 1970 Installation and full operation of a second suspension preheater kiln along with grinding facilities at the Hsinchu Plant, producing 800,00 MT of cement a year. Furthermore, the Hsinchu Plant took the lead among domestic cement producers in employing the bench formula in mining limestone at its quarry.
Sept. 1967 Full operation of the Keelung Grinding Mill, turning over 200,000 MT of cement a year.
Sept. 1965 Installation and full operation of a third set of production outfit-a suspension preheater kiln, the first of its kind in the ROC-along with grinding facilities at the Hsinchu Plant, enabling annual capacity to reach 400,000 MT of cement.
Apr. 1962 Installation and full operation of a second semi-dry LP processing kiln along with grinding facilities at the Hsinchu Plant, producing 200,000 MT of cement a year.
Feb. 1962 Listing on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.

There are no important events impacting on the shareholders’ equity of the Company such as mergers, acquisitions, transfer or alternation of the directors and supervisors holding a stake of greater than 10 percent and changes of the Company’s management.
